whats up with bike lanes that do not have gaurdrails? NOTHING, in my opinion-they are useless!

... riding down the road and got yelled at to put lights on my bike. See, thats the problem with the world. And , well the answer found in cycling. Thats the whole point of cycling, to live outside of all those stupid rules you live in. Oh and plus, I don't really think that it would be expedient to utter certain four letter words here -if at any time, but how about I give you a knuckle sandwich next time you think your are going to step out your backwards life and and start telling me how tell live mine. And furthermore, lights, just like bike lanes and helmets are part of a whole different image that is not only destroying bicycling culture and making people bigger, fatter assholes, but contains fundamental flaws that in many ways just don't make a lot of sense when you get past the crux of your little neighbourhood pleasure ride.  I am not saying these things are destroying bicycling culture but are part of an image that IS destroying bike culture, by being too oppressive and anal. Lights are: expensive, heavy, easy to steal(or make theft of components easier and/or thereby draw attention to the bike more), and they make you more visible and more vulnerable. Bikes in the night are stealth and that's a good thing. Helmets; I've written and posted so much on that I don't want to get started on that here;  Bike lanes; not impressed, they need to have gaurdrails or they are just going to cause more problems than they are worth, somebody might get hit or killed thinking bike lanes are safe in any way without guardrails...
